i was my father’s remote control
i’d get up to change the channel
it was a much smaller panel
i think we had three
a long time before four
and many years before more
when they launched sky
and everything was digitised
the programs were islands we prized
because if you missed them they never swung back around
now everything can be pretty much found
my tv had a dial
and we sometimes got foreign tv
late at night
in the same way the radio dial reached further
i could observe the
barrel rolling truth
of sweden or some other country
technology in its infancy
wouldn’t often shit the bed
it had a simple thread
