the freedom in the flaw

the way you remember the story
the way you wrap the gift
the glass smoothed out in longshore drift
some former glory
something from the past played out
divining with a hazel twig in a drought

i was unwritten once
we were all on an unexplored shore
then we were mediated by an algorithmic dunce
and privacy is no more
the freedom in the flaw
and now we want to close the door

burning photographs
and fossilised laughs
different quarters and other halves
the hungry algorithm starves
as we try to walk different paths
mediums turned to lukewarm baths
